Industria software a fost revolutionata de conceptul open source
(programe gratuite, cu surse disponibile). Producatorii de software
proprietar sunt fortati sa se adapteze, sa ofere mai multe servicii
si sa scada preturile, toate in avantajul consumatorului. In
prezentarea organizata de Wave2Network s-a expus o istorie a
software-ul open-source, precum si stadiul in care se afla azi
si implicatiile sale.

ai ministerelor, ai institutiilor guvernamentale, financiar-bancare,
precum si principalii furnizori de solutii informatice, firme
de consultanta si avocatura, operatori de telecomunicatii, firme
de hardware si software, directori de companii si societati
comerciale. Materialul realizat īn urma acestor discutii prezinta
principalele probleme ridicate si propuneri avansate de participantii
la masa rotunda.

Office is creating an Intranet for European Union issues that
will handle the distribution and preparation work of European
Union documents of all the Ministries. The system is already

Austrian telecom company mobilkom austria unveiled at an e-government
conference in Graz on 05/06/03 a pilot project that would enable
citizens to sign official documents using their mobile phone
with its proposed national A1 Bürgerkarte (A1 citizen card).
The model card could already be available for public use by
2004, as soon as the law on administration signature has been

On 28 May 2003, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of
Europe adopted a Declaration on freedom of communication on
the Internet. The main objective is to strike a balance between
freedom of expression and information on the Internet and other
rights guaranteed by the European Convention on Human Rights,
such as the protection of children against unsuitable online
content.

Four Chinese internet writers have been sentenced to long prison
terms for subversion. The men, who have already been in custody
for 20 months, had set up an internet-based group, the New Youth

In 2004, 6 million US citizens living abroad will be given the
opportunity to vote online to elect their new president. E-voting
trials have already been run in the US during the presidential
elections of 2000. The same exercise will be carried out in
the 2004 elections but this time on a far grander scale, giving
millions of Americans resident abroad the chance to vote electronically
too.

on 5 June plans to create the European Network and Information
Security Agency. The UK and Germany abstained in the voting.
